                                          FAQ

AUDITIONS: During the first audition an actor will  giv a sample performance. We are looking for children who can act and be natural.

REHEARSAL CONFLICTS SCHEDULE: When the actors first come to the audition, they will be asked to list any major  conflicts with rehearsal times, out of town times,  as well as whether they are willing to adjust the conflicts to fit into the rehearsal schedule.  It is very important to list your availability accurately.

CALLBACKS: Actors that did well at the audition will be invited for a “callback”. During the  callback actors maybe  asked to do a cold read and sing a song. If you are selected for the role, you will be asked to sign a pro-production agreement, also your membership dues will be due at that time. Pro-production,  meaning proceeds towards production of the plays.

RESUMES and HEADSHOTS: Resumes and Headshots are very important tools.  You need hard copies to take to every audition.  For each  role you accept, you must bring  10 resumes sizes  8 x 10 size with  8 x 10 headshots stampled to it.  A  resume and headshot must be also e-mailed to us electronically.  Resumes should never contain your personal contact information. It should only list your agency management contact info. Bring headshots and resumes to every audition.

OUR POLICY: Our policy is that no one can miss rehearsals ( dress rehearsal and technical rehearsals) during a Tech Week. Please check the list of performances in  advance. If you have any conflicts during Tech Week, please do not audition, but wait the next show where you know you can accommodate the times. If you need to miss a rehearsal or arrive late, you must contact us ahead of time. Please be advised that it is the actors responsibility to make up any missed time. Don't miss more than 2 rehearsals. 3 Missed rehearsals will cause a withdrawal from the cast. Parents should not at any time advise the director anything in regards to script, play, decorations, etc. Parents can't at any time discourage any other parent from participation in the production. No parents will be allowed to be in the room during any rehearsals, dress rehearsals and technical rehearsals.

CAST and PARENTS:  Please don't bring any negativity or bad moon to the rehearsals. remember,  each cast member is a young actor and each of them must believing in character once they are in the rehearsal. Students are not to leave the rehearsal space once the rehearsal began.  No food or chewing gum during the rehearsal. Each child please bring a snack and water with you that you can eat during the break. Actors may not use cell phones or text message or play games during rehearsals.

RULES AND PROCEDURES: All actors and actor's parents that are involved in the production must have a constant and clear communication with a Artistic Director/ Producer and Stage Manager. If problem arises, please bring to the attention of the Artistic Director and Stage Manager immediately.  We are not be responsible for any injuries that might occur while rehearsals or productions in our theatre space.

TIME COMMITMENT: Theatrical productions require a big-time commitment. The time required varies depending on the production the young actor is involved in. Rehearsals are usually 4 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Saturday and Sunday, with some possible additional rehearsals time added during the week after school if needed. There will be extended hours during production week as we approach opening night.

REHEARSALS:  1st rehearsal - first read through the script by the cast. Mandatory parents meeting first day, payment and a signed production agreement are due at this time. Rehearsal Schedule is based on the conflict form filled by each actor. While we do our best to accommodate everyone’s schedule, it is not always possible as it is based on majority availability.  Rehearsals last for 8-10 weeks. That is from the week after auditions until opening(14 rehearsal per play, meeting twice or three times a week. Roles can be double casted. Larger/Lead roles or multiple ensemble roles may require more rehearsals.

The number of times that each of the actor comes depends on casting, usually an actor comes a 2-3 times a week for a 3 hours ( including weekdays 6:00pm-9:00pm and Saturdays &/or Sundays 4:00pm – 7:00pm), During the first two weeks the actor must memorize his/her lines and will be completely off script. Once its' done,  we can start working on scenes and characters. Failure to know the script by the 3 weeks will cause for dismissal from the rehearsal and conversation with the parent.  If the cast member comes unprepared for the second time, that will cause the withdrawal from the cast. Once the character has been set, we can start working on singing and/or dancing.

Blocking is normally done at the dress rehearsal and technical rehearsal during final technical week. 1/1 rehearsal is done during the first week, where we work on individual scenes. Once it’s done, we will meet two- three times a week, during that times all actors and scenes are combines and we’ll put all parts into scenes and acts. For the final two weeks when the actors are combining these parts into scenes and acts, we may need to meet three to four times a week. During the dress rehearsal and technical week  we may need to meet four times a week and spend longer hours practicing. Deviations are usually announced at the auditions. Rehearsals are subject to change. There will be days that all actors are not needed, as specific scene may need extra work or all actors needed, as specific scene may need extra work. Last minute rehearsals will be arranged if needed with your consent. Please free schedules as much as possible the week before the show. (Technical Week). During that time the full cast and crew will walk through the entire show in performance order. This means stopping hundreds of times to make adjustments.  Technical Rehearsal time will be 3 times a week  for 3 hours (Friday, Saturday and Sunday). Technical Weeks (final two weeks before the show).

DRESS REHEARSAL: Is  the final rehearsal of something such as a play, opera, or ballet in full costume and with lights, music, and effects, before it is given its first public performance.  Full Costumes, Lighting, Sound, props, etc.

Technical and dress rehearsals can’t be missed!  It is a long and tedious process, but essential to the quality of the show.   All cast members must be there for the whole duration of the rehearsal.

WHAT HAPPENS IF THE ACTOR GETS SICK? We understand things happen and kids can get sick, if that happens, you must call us right away. Also you must find time for a make up the following week to keep in good standing with a company.  Confirm all rehearsal appointments immediately! Three missed appointments will result in termination from the theatre group  and loss of your  opportunity for representation with our sister company NAR Talent Management.  Representation: A cast member that fulfills all the requirement in regards to attending all rehearsals, is in good standing, will participate in all performances and has a good attitude will earn an opportunity for a management representation. The winners will be determined following the completion of all set performances.

PARENTS RESPONSIBILITIES:  As a parent, it is your responsibility to ensure that your child is at all  rehearsals on time and ready to go.  Each member of the cast must be  cooperative, courteous and respectful in dealings. Demonstrate the highest standards of conduct and good judgment, increase in personal responsibility and self-discipline.  Each child must be at designated rehearsal time. Remember to bring a water bottle, a pencil and script to each rehearsal.  When we are working on songs, each cast members should bring a tape recorder and a blank tape. As a parent it is your responsibility to encourage your child to memorize lines, rehearse music, and review dances between rehearsals. Please talk to your child about discipline, the ability to sit quietly while your child is not on stage. While cast members are waiting for their next turn, they must follow the script and practice their lines. During the long rehearsals hours, the child will be allowed to read books or bring a homework.  But when their turn is next- each member of the cast must be ready to rehearse when needed. Parents should not at any time advise the director anything in regards to script, play, decorations, etc. No Parents at any time can’t discourage any other parent  from participation in the production. No parents will be allowed to be in the room during any rehearsals, dress rehearsals and technical rehearsals.

It is  the cast responsibility to be ready for the established performance dates.  Once the performance dates are established, they will not be changed or moved.2 performances. Performances are generally on a Sunday morning and in the afternoon, though this is subject to change. Performances usually run for about 45 min to an hour, longer performances include intermission. On the day of Performance, all actors must arrive for "Call Time", that is one hour before the performance time. On average, actors are at the theatre for three and a half hours for each performance. Performance locations: vary ( Nursing Homes,  Reception Halls, Coffee Shops, etc.)Immediately following the final production, the set must be taken apart and place must be cleaned. Parents and cast participation is mandatory.

COSTUMES:   In addition to the volunteer hours, each family must supply the costume(s) for their child.

CAST LIST: When you fill out the audition form, you must  let us know if you “Will you accept an ensemble role or if you will except any role? Please only say “ Yes” if you truly indent to accept an ensemble or any role in the production.  While everyone may want  to land a lead role, it is important to understand that each role matters in the production and that participating in any role in the production will give each actor credits for resume  as well as a valuable experience.  While we will give an equal consideration to each of the actors for the roles they are interested in playing, you will  have a better chance of getting in the  cast if they are willing to accept any role or ensemble part offered . Time commitment: For each cast member of the cast and for the parent of the cast members participating in a production is a big time commitment.  Please be sure you are ready and prepared to commit to all rehearsals and mandatory dates before the audition. Each parent must support their child in the production.  Please be sure that you both aware of  commitment to the production before the auditions.  Rehearsals  requires dedication and continuous With commitment from each of us, and respect for each other, it is a very rewarding experience.

Following  successful completion of the production each cast member that will meet  100% for attendance, rehearsal and performance will receive a management representation. How is discipline handled? If there is a discipline issue we will handle it as follows.
